We are all familiar with Banksy's iconic stencils and characters, they can be seen on the streets and on fake prints all over London. Recently the British photographer Nick Stern (based in LA) published a photo series called 'You are not Banksy', the photographs are bringing to life 8 of Banksy's most popular pieces. The result is really cool images, which for me deals with the thin line between inspiration and imitation. Although by giving it the title 'You are not Banksy' it seems that Stern has already protected himself from critics.
"I have always been intrigued by Banksy’s work and thought it would be fascinating to try and recreate some of his most famous images on camera” says Stern.
The funny thing is that I actually found a photograph of a random Internet geek from 2009 (in the picture below), probably a big fan of Banksy, doing the same thing, although I guess he just thought it can be a really cool Halloween costume and his right (:
